Joy Schuhmacher

After receiving my fine art degree from the University of Texas, Austin, I worked as an illustrator for a major department store in Dallas. Art was put aside to raise children and show Arabian horses but has recently become a driving force in my life. Inspired by the Impressionists and many talented local artists, I use all mediums and find drawing to be at the core of my artistic expression. I have been awarded for these efforts in numerous art competitions including the Mission Purchase Award in the national Art for the Parks, the Brownwood Paint Off  and the Barclay.  In 2010 my artwork was chosen for the poster of the Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg. Look for my paintings in an upcoming movie "When Angels Sing" to be released in winter 2011 and in Kerrville art gallery this April. I am currently revisiting the sites that the fantastic artist Buck Schiwetz painted over 10 years ago and rendering as they look today....if I can find them and they are still standing!
